Founded in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood in 1972 by community residents, Bowdoin Street Health Center remains focused on providing outstanding medical care while maintaining a tradition of working with residents to identify and meet patients’ unique health needs. The mission of the health center is to provide excellent, compassionate care to patients and support the health of the entire community. Recognizing how social and economic factors in the community can also influence an individual’s health status, Bowdoin Street actively engages with community organizations and public entities to prevent violence, improve access to healthy, affordable foods and promote wellness through exercise and stress reduction.
Samantha Taylor
Before taking the role of Executive Director at Bowdoin Street Health Center, Samantha served as the Chief Operations Officer for First Choice Health Centers in East Hartford, CT where she was responsible for ensuring operational excellence in patient experience, employee engagement, financial stewardship, growth and strategy across 14 sites. During her tenure, Samantha renovated and expanded a multi-service clinical site, opened the first LGBTQ+ clinic in the Greater Hartford area, designed and oversaw the construction of their retail pharmacy, and opened a new multi-service clinical site.
Previously, Samantha served as the Operations Manager at Boston Medical Center (BMC) for General Internal Medicine, where she oversaw the operations of the practice that included more than 100 providers and 50 clinical and administrative
staff. Samantha received her BA from Xavier University of Louisiana and earned her MHA from Seton Hall University.
Recently, Samantha completed the Geiger Gibson Health Policy Fellowship Program at George Washington University, which is focused on meeting the professional needs of mid-level and senior staff pursuing leadership careers in community health centers and state and regional primary care associations.
