Dr. Jennifer Seavey deeply appreciates the power of place and how to integrate many aspects of what defines place and how to use it and cultivate it for the future. With roots going back 11 generations, Jennifer appears to have Appledore Island in her blood. The Island has a very unique history and Dr. Seavey will weave together the stories of fisherman from the 1600’s, artists from the 1800’s, and today’s marine scientists who call it home. She will also discuss how the marine lab is blending different aspects of Appledore’s history to develop cutting edge academic and research programs.  As Executive Director of the Shoals Marine Laboratory, she leads the innovative work to develop the next generation of those who explore the sea.
