Blue Gilead

Murray Dewart, 2022 (Brookline, Massachusetts)

Aluminum

Nestled in the woods behind Alnoba’s Clems Cabin stands a 9 foot tall aluminum sculpture painted in vibrant blue, embodied by the landmark of Winkley brook it boldly stands adjacent to. The word Gilead represents an African American spiritual song called “There is a Balm in Gilead” which Murray’s family would sing at all their events.

Murray Dewart is a Massachusetts-based artist who describes his art “as a parable about landscape where I’m following a plow toward a far horizon.”
